Lump at Base of Fin

Goldfish
One of my koi has a large round lump on the inboard part of each front fin. Can you tell me what it is and recommend any treatment. I have a red Comet fish in my koi pond which has developed a large round lump on the inboard part of each front fin. Can you tell me the likely cause and recommend any treatment. Also, is it likely to be infectious. - John

If the lumps are symmetrical, then they are probably just part of your fish's body structure. If the lumps are asymmetrical, red and infected looking, like these ulcers:
